What can we do in the state of Martial Law

I know, we have no experience of reacting to such situation, but we must learn and react. We must stop the martial law in its early days. Otherwise, we will loose passion day by day and the brutal forces would keep kidnapping those who want to do something resulting in a long dark night.
The situation demands our actions in two directions i.e.
1. Awareness / Concern raising2. Concrete steps leading to the restoration of judiciary and the constitution.
For 1, we can do one or more from the following (more ideas welcome)
 - Writing to/on international media like cnn, bbc, cnbc, reuters, newsweek, washington post etc. so that the external pressure can be exerted on the general.
 - Writing on blogs - Writing emails to your frieds around
 - Putting condemnation banners on the website that you own/run or you people around you own/run

For 2, we can do one or more from the following (more ideas welcome)
 - Contributing financially
      + so that we can take care of the families of the unjustly detained civilians (even lawyers, journalists and LUMS faculty members have been arrested) and pursue those detained.
      + for banners, slogans, placards etc.
 - Organize people around us to make numbers before going out on streets.
 - Keep our anger alive and keep our morale high by discussing the situation on regular basis and by watching the videos show attrocities of the brutal government.
 - Boycott the figure heads of the current setup socially and economically.

We at LUMS are trying to coordinate with other such bodies formed after the situation so that the a coordinated protest can be launched. I believe, if few thousand people sit on Shahrah-e-Dastoor for two days, this govt will fall.

Remember that these movements require sacrifice, and we shall be ready to sacrifice even our lives.

Lets unite to save our country and give our children a better tomorrow.

Justice Iftikhar rejects Musharraf blames to justify 'Emergency'

ISLAMABAD:Former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry has rejecting the blames leveled by President General Pervez Musharraf to justify declaration of emergency.

The rulers had feared that Supreme Court would give decree in Musharraf eligibility contrary to their wishes so they imposed emergency in the country, Justice Iftikhar said.

Iftikhar Chaudhry was addressing the lawyers first time after imposition of the emergency. He said that thecharges framed by President Musharraf against SupremeCourt are baseless and unfounded.

Declaration of emergency has damaged the constitution, he said, adding that Supreme Court had always worked within constitutional framework.

Anti-Emergency Protest @ LUMS - 05 Nov 2007, Black Day at LUMS

On Campus Protest

Student rally at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) against the imposition of a state of emergency in Pakistan. More than 500 students participated in this protest. This was the huge gathering, ever observed in the history of LUMS.


This is the rally on the campus, but students are determined to organized themselves into a 'Student Community' just like the 'Lawyer Community'. So, it was decided to contact the activists in other universities (especially the public universities) of Lahore to demonstrate a huge protest outside the campuses, together.

Participation in Lahore High-Court Protest
Another batch of students had demonstrated outside the high courts where the police charged at them with batons and attacked them. Since i was one of those students (alongwith three of my friends Murtaza, AZ and Butt), i witnessed the brutal/fatal attack of 'State Licensed Gangsters' i.e. Police and the 'angels' in civil who made sure that no one goes without a wound, but we made it ... Luminites were the only students who showed up there at Lahore HighCourt.

Three members of the LUMS faculty - Aasim Sajjad Akhtar (Social Sciences), Bilal Minto (Law) and Ali Cheema (Economics) were placed under arrest and are charged under the section 144, they were sent to Kot Lakhpat Jail to spent night because the Magistrate refused to accept their bail.

Black Day
Black day was observed by the students of LUMS, all the students wore 'Black' clothes to tell the world that, 'not even a single community of Pakistan is ready to accept Gen. Musharaf's dictatorship, anymore'. So Go Musharaf Go was heard all over the campus, loud and clear.

Whats today ?
Today right at 1:25 PM sharp, student will rally again within the campus before that 'Student Action Committee' will announce the schedule/strategy/dates for off campus.

While Mr. Superman ... Mush (with the reference of 'In the Line of Fire') was giving the pathetic reasons to impose yet another Martial Law on Pakistan (against his very own government) in his address, you might have noticed that his hands were shaking, he was using incomplete sentences and was using the slang language.

New Pakistan

musharraf forgot tht Pakistan has now changed... this is relatively aware Pakistan now... this time ppl wont keep quiet... this imposition is a blessing in disguise... this is a chance to show our love to the country, grab this opportunity and join hands with each other to stand united and strong as a nation, for there is no revolution without the show of solidarity, to free ur country... stand up NOW

Emergency it is!!!

Emergency it sure is, but only declared and dictated by one mad man. Do we believe him really? This one emergency demands and deserves another emergency in return. We should declare emergency within our thoughts, whatever we're doing in our "oh so important" lives, we should just kindly stop for a while, and declare an emergency on our thought process and think hard as to what we're actually doing. What's this life for, in the first place? What are the most important things?

If we're not bold enough to think on our own, as is the case with most of the people, then kindly, for a change, talk to people who do seem to have a view of their own. Give them a chance. More than anything else, it's time to be honest with our own selves. What is it that we're running after in life? Why are those things important? Are those things so important as to the fact that they've convinced us to become cowards for the time being; for who is a coward if not the person who remains motionless and silent in testing times.

Think!!!
Getting angry at the situation is the first step. How can we still be so apathetic? What are we waiting for? A messiah? Well then:

Khuda nay aaj tak uss kaum ki haalat nahin badli
Na ho jiss ko khayyal aap apni haalat kay badalnay ka

If you think we alone can't make any difference:

Afraad kay haathon mey hai aqwaam ki taqdeer
Har fard hai millat key muqaddar ka sitarah

If you thought this is an emergency only now and we were free before:

Mulla ko jo hai hind mey sajday ki ijazzat
Nadaan samjhta hai kay Azaad ha Islam

This is the time we think really hard, as to who we are, and what we believe in. If we believe in any God or thing other than money, this is the time to prove it then!!!

'Elected King'

H.E. Gen. Musharraf is not guilty of wht happened on november 03, 2007 the 'brightest' day in Pakistan. It is the judiciary which is the root cause. The interesting address of H.E. clearly showed how patient he had been, n how severely the judicial system has damaged Pakistan's stability. The judiciary was sheltering Pakistani citizens... err 'terrorists 'arrested by the security agencies either without any charge (since terrorists need not b charged) or on serious charges like 'he shook hands with a man who was sitting with a man who was found buying a cap from a shop near which a very close friend of Osama was seen 3 years ago'. This was not the only crime committed by the judiciary. It did not accept the decision of 'The King' when he sacked the little CJ of Pakistan on some 'serious' grounds.

The judiciary was guilty of standing united and strong against the peaceful visits of armed forces to the houses of terrorist Pakistani citizens in various parts of the jungle... err state. Political system was well in place and there was no uncertainty n anxiety in the nation abt wht will happen, everyone was certain tht nothin is gonna happen. Musharraf is not gonna go, n y shld he go, he is elected as a king by the ppl elected by animals... err people of Pakistan. But when the judicial activism showed a bit of hope to the insects of the country tht they can ask someone tht some loyal slaves of the King are disturbing them, they started gettin uncertain. This was the beginning of treason. I mean the loyal slaves now cannot pick any animal from his home without telling him the charges against him. This was too bad, they r authorized by the 'elected king' to pick, beat, kill or do anything they want to do with any animal they like. Who gave the judges the authority to stand in their way? This moved the country to a state of uncertainty.

Moreover the judiciary has been playin 'games' with the King who never played games with the insects livin in the jungle... by not promisin to remove the uniform more than 1 times and not takin the uniform off.

So the king thought of a solution... remove every judge capable of givin hope to the insects of civil society, stop the ppl who respect them, beat everyone who wants them to stay. This was inevitable for the Elected King to impose martial law... err 'emergency'. H.E. was not willing to do so, his heart wept, he felt drowned but for the sake of common insects in Pakistan, for the sovereignty of the country it was mandatory to impose the Law of Jungle.

Now the country is in a 'certain' state, everyone knows tht emergency has been imposed, no one has any rights, every citizen knows tht his future is in safe hands of the elected king. So the act of the King was just.

So there is no need to protest, we r justified in stayin home n not participatin in any protests... dont think, stay home, have a cup of coffee watch a tv show, sit back, relax, sleep, get up n goto work again. keep goin in this cycle n feel tht u r free. Enjoy the law of jungle.
